Behavior Therapy Associates is a private group practice that was founded in 1979 to provide clinical treatment, consultation, and training using the methods associated with behavioral and cognitive therapies. Michael C. Selbst

Michael C. Selbst, Ph.D., BCBA-D is Owner and Executive Director of Behavior Therapy Associates in Somerset, New Jersey. He is a Licensed Psychologist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Certified School Psychologist, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst at the Doctoral level. Dr. Selbst earned his undergraduate degree with honors in Psychology at the University of Delaware, and he was awarded a University Fellowship to Temple University, where he attained his Master’s in Education and Ph.D. in School Psychology.

He has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of clients who presents with symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, social skills deficits, learning disabilities, as well as family and relationship issues, parent training, and co-parenting. Dr. Selbst has extensive experience working with pre-school aged children through adults, including expertise helping individuals working through significant life changes and transitions. He has led numerous workshops, including at local, statewide, national and international conferences. Dr. Selbst is co-author of the following: Behavior Problems Resource Kit: Forms and Procedures for Identification, Measurement and Intervention; the social skills curriculum POWER-Solving®: Stepping Stones to Solving Life’s Everyday Social Problems; and the book chapter “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy” in A. G. Dempsey’s (Ed.) book, Pediatric health conditions in schools: a clinician’s guide for working with children, families, and educators.

Dr. Selbst’s professional interests and approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy/Training (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and applying Behavior Analysis in his work with individuals, families, and organizations. He assists clients to increase their psychological flexibility, making meaningful steps toward who and what is important to them. Dr. Selbst is a member of the following professional organizations: American Psychological AssociationNational Association of School PsychologistsAssociation for Behavioral and Cognitive TherapiesAssociation for Behavior Analysis InternationalAssociation for Contextual Behavioral ScienceNew Jersey Psychological Association; and New Jersey Association of School Psychologists. He has previously served as a member of a Human Rights Committee for adults with developmental delays. Dr. Selbst has also served as a substitute lecturer for a graduate course on cognitive-behavioral interventions.

Steven B. Gordon

Steven B. Gordon, Ph.D., ABPP is a clinical psychologist and is licensed in New Jersey. Dr. Gordon is also Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a Diplomate in Behavior Therapy from the American Board of Behavioral Psychology.

Dr. Gordon is on the faculty at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University where he has taught courses on adult and child behavior therapy for over 25 years and is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Rutgers University Medical School.

Dr. Gordon has co-authored several books, published numerous articles, presented papers at local and national conferences, and served on editorial boards of professional journals. He has collaborated with three of Behavior Therapy Associates’ doctors to co-author the Behavior Problems Resource Kit: Forms and Procedures for Identification, Measurement and Intervention. Most recently, Dr. Gordon and Dr. Selbst have co-authored the new social-emotional skills program POWER-Solving: Stepping Stones to Solving Life’s Everyday Social Problems.

Dr. Gordon’s professional interests include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy/Training (ACT) to help individuals become more psychologically flexible so they can have a life consistent with their chosen values.

Ashley M. Zultanky

Ashley M. Zultanky, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist and a certified school psychologist in New Jersey.

Dr. Zultanky earned her undergraduate Psychology degree with a minor in Sport Psychology from West Virginia University. She was a member of the Division 1 rifle team, which won the NCAA Championship in her sophomore year. Dr. Zultanky holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and a Doctoral degree in Combined School and Clinical Psychology from Kean University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC, in the psychiatry department.

Dr. Zultanky’s doctoral training allowed her to treat clients across the lifespan, from ages 3 through 90. She has extensive training in neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations on children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of presenting issues, including neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, tumor, traumatic brain injury, ADHD, academic challenges, and intellectual disabilities.

She also has years of experience conducting individual and group therapy from an evidence-based framework with an emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) strategies. Dr. Zultanky’s clinical specialty is in the field of sport psychology, and she seeks to improve sport performance for the individual athlete as well as the team. Dr. Zultanky has treated individuals presenting with difficulties related to depression, anxiety, ADHD, executive dysfunction, sport performance, adjustment issues, anger issues, complicated bereavement, chronic illness, history of trauma, and substance abuse. She has led social skills training groups for a variety of ages. Dr. Zultanky’s clinical focus is to encourage individuals to consciously adjust the lens through which they view life and circumstances and move in a value-consistent direction to reduce suffering. She uses experiential exercises and present-moment awareness to increase psychological flexibility and frustration tolerance. She was also trained in traditional Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and incorporates techniques in her therapy style. Dr. Zultanky also has experience presenting a multitude of workshops on topics related to ADHD, executive functioning and procrastination, sport performance, mental health difficulties in children and adults, psychological flexibility, and maximizing productivity and performance.

Dr. Zultanky has experience working in school districts across all levels, including school-based counseling and social skills groups with students, as well as consultation with staff. She has conducted IEP meetings for students with a range of classifications, including learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disturbance, other health impaired, and autism spectrum disorder.
